Americans Favor Cheney Impeachment

At long last, a majority of the country wants Vice President Richard B. Cheney impeached.  According to a recent poll by American Research Group, 54% of Americans are in favor of impeaching the treasonous Dick.  This figure includes 17% of Republicans, 51% of Independents, and 76% of Democrats.  An additional 6% are undecided, with only 40% in opposition.  A full 46% support an impeachment of President Bush.

These figures are without the Democrats making a strong public argument to impeach the Vice President. Just think if they actually made a pitch for impeachment how much higher those numbers can go.  We all know the Democrats don't do anything unless the polls are on their side, so this might be the impetus they need to get the ball rolling.   Dennis Kucinich filed articles of impeachment a few months ago, but public support was not yet on his side.  It is today.

Some would say that it is too late in the game to impeach the VP or the President, but on the other hand, they still have more than 18 months left in office.  They could do a lot more damage in that time.  On the list of charges would be warrantless wiretapping, torture of prisoners (including American citizens), illegal kidnappings, outing a CIA agent, and the illegal invasion of Iraq.

It looks like impeachment is the only option available to Congress to stop Bush and Cheney.  Even the Republicans in the Senate are starting to pull far away from these two thugs.  The number of Senators verbally condemning the strategy of the White House with regard to Iraq is growing each week.  Within a couple months, more GOP'ers are expected to take a position similar to the Democrats.

We are not at impeachment yet, but if the public support for impeaching Cheney grows to 60-65%, look for Democrats and a number of Republicans to start impeachment proceedings.  It doesn't matter if we impeach President Bush if Richard Cheney is still in office.  As the saying goes, "Impeach Cheney First!"
